Our First Test Render

And here it is!!! It looks really good! I imagine it would especially look good with a bunch more camera work, positioning, timing, lighting and stuff like that. But as a tool, it was REALLY useful! I basically set up that whole thing in 2 minutes!

I feel that the moving camera and extreme close-up sort of diminishes the effect though. Let’s up the ante

Upping the Ante

I want to keep up with the lyric video idea, and thought it would be neat to mimic the first op in terms of visual style. Hey! Might as well make a test render look cool to show what can be done with it, eh?

I found this great model of Jolyne by DarienToad on Sketchfab, and I’m deciding to go with modeling the rest of the prison I want to show myself.

Since I’m a bit extra, I wanted to storyboard it out.

Lyrics:

Break Out! 目覚めよ! 昨日までのあたしじゃいられない Break Out! どんなに 未知数のスキル アタックされても 限界は崩壊 ギブアップは論外 運命 手懐ける まで And don’t stop beating Don’t stop beating Don’t stop beating ’em up!

The first scene was rather simple. Just some rudimentally modeling off of the prison rooms shown in the intro and the show. For silhouettes, I took some from the “There’s Six of Us!” episode, and imported them as planes.

Some animation curve, texturing, and media timeline stuff later, we get something really cool!

Next up, for the second scene, I wanted to recreate the Jumpin’ Jack Flash fight area.

I took a screenshot from the show, and then bought it into fspy. This made it pretty easy to recreate the scene in 3D! Some texture painting, camera maneuvering, and tinkering with animation settings later, we have this!

For the scene where she uses her thread as a mobius strip, I managed to use that gradient function I implemented a while ago and combined it with some noise to make a really neat looking looping/pulsating effect!

A bit more modeling and animation later and we get:
